’30 Days’ Kang Ha-neul “I try to break comedy clichés… It feels like walking a strange tightrope”

Actor Kang Ha-neul explained the movie ’30 Days’, which was released on the 3rd, in this way in a recent interview held at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.
The movie ’30 Days’ is a romantic comedy about a couple who is about to divorce and falls in love again when they lose their memories in an accident. Director Nam Dae-jung, who directed the movies ‘The Great Wish’ and ‘Gibangdoryeong’, wrote the script and took over the helm. Kang Ha-neul turned to her wife Nara (played by Jeong So-min) and said, “Her existence itself is grounds for divorce,” and was enraged by the passion of her husband, who lost her memory and fell in love with Nara again.

Kang Ha-neul cited the strength of the script as the reason he chose ’30 Days’.
“It’s like a superstition or jinx of mine, but if I sit down and read the script all the way through, I usually come across the work. I think it’s fate if I can read the script without any distractions.”
Kang Ha-neul, who is single, had an opportunity to think about marriage through this movie.
“Before I started watching movies, I had only received marriage counseling from my married friends. But while filming ‘30 Days,’ it occurred to me that if you live with someone, small things can become problems. When you live alone, there is only one bathroom. “It’s not uncomfortable, but if you live with someone, you have to watch when to go to the bathroom.”

The ending of the movie is obvious, but the process of drawing laughter takes you by surprise. In scenes where clichés are expected, humor or lines appear unexpectedly, causing laughter.
“Breaking various cliches was a point where Director Nam and I fit well together. I like the comedy style of the Hollywood movie ‘Deadpool.’ It feels like a strange tightrope walk of going serious and then breaking once. Director Nam also likes that kind of thing. “I was trying to get to the branch.”
This funny point of the movie was made even more noticeable by the chemistry between Kang Ha-neul and Jung So-min. The two actors present a variety of scenes as a couple, from the conflicts a newlywed couple experiences to the excitement of a new lover. Their perfect chemistry came from their experience working together in the 2015 movie ‘Twenty’.
“We had a lot of fun filming ‘Twenty’, so we felt comfortable filming with each other. Meeting each other after almost 10 years, we felt relaxed on set because we were both older and more experienced. That made me feel good.”

Kang Ha-neul appeared in the 2007 drama ‘The Strongest! She made her media debut with ‘My Mom’. He created a stir by beating the competition rate of 800 to 1 at the time. However, his first introduction to acting was through the play ‘Heavenly Clock’ in which he participated during his second year of high school. Although he works on both theater and media, he said that he still finds the pleasure that only the theater stage provides attractive.
“In a play, you do the same scenes and lines every day, so it can get boring in a way, but strangely, that’s really attractive. It’s amazing how actors in a play accept that because they don’t always do it with the same breathing or intonation.”

Unlike his professional characteristics as an actor, Kang Ha-neul’s personality is extremely introverted. She usually feels most comfortable when she is home alone. There were times when it was difficult because his personality and professional personality were polar opposites. However, as he gained experience, he began to completely separate his work and personal life.
“It was a dilemma when I was young. To act, I had to stand in front of the camera and get people’s attention, but personality-wise, I was more comfortable being alone. Now, I’ve found a way to stay calm and calm by myself. When filming, I leave the door open and focus entirely on work. “If you do, lock me in when you rest and get enough rest.”
He said that even though there is a temperature difference between the individual and the actor’s life, the reason he cannot give up on acting is because of the fun of acting.
