Reha Hutin, the president of “30 million friends”, explains Tuesday in “Culture Media” why her foundation for the defense of the animal cause has decided to embark on the podcast. She takes the opportunity to announce new communication projects to the general public, especially the youngest.

INTERVIEW

There was the cult 1980s TV show on TF1, then on France 3. There was the YouTube channel and the various social media accounts. The 30 million friends foundation now launches into the podcast, almost 30 years after its creation. “This is in line with a historic presence of 30 million friends in the hearts of the French”, assures Reha Hutin, the president of the foundation, at the microphone of Culture Media on Europe 1.

Interviews with personalities and scientists

“We have always had this desire to put all the communication media at the service of raising awareness of the animal cause as many people as possible. So it has always been a bit of our DNA”, she adds. “Now, we really need to be able to educate the youngest. And the podcast is really a simpler and more malleable way to communicate with our community.”

The podcast channel of 30 million friends will host interviews with scientists (including a bio-acoustician who listens to hippos), interviews with personalities sensitive to the animal cause, sound discoveries in the heart of nature… Several headings are already on this podcast channel launched this weekend.

A virtual refuge in the Metaverse

But, to defend the animal cause, the president of the Foundation does not intend to stop there. “In addition to the podcast, we made an incursion into the gamer community, with our vigilantes of the heart”, recalls Reha Hutin. “And, with the arrival of the metaverse, I imagine a refuge in virtual reality, with this means of putting yourself in the head of a dog and showing you its true distress.”

Podcast episodes will be posted according to current events. Several are already available on podcast platforms like Spotify and Deezer and on the 30 million friends site. The channel will soon arrive on Apple Podcast.
