Vienna (OTS) – Vienna has officially started the new year for exactly six hours: The 32nd Vienna New Year’s Eve Trail, which this year offers a total of 80 hours of program at eight locations in the city center and in the Prater, started as planned at 2 p.m.

Hundreds of thousands of guests are already celebrating in mild and, above all, dry New Year’s Eve weather. Fortunately, there are still no significant incidents to report.

Since 8 p.m., visitors have been able to dance and celebrate at the winter market on Riesenradplatz in the Prater at the foot of the Ferris wheel. The program on the Rathausplatz stage has just started a few minutes ago and also has two special highlights in store for guests: “Falco – In Concert” promises a legendary show for fans of the exceptional Austrian artist. The musician’s original band plays Falco’s best-known hits, with a number of well-known artists such as Roman Gregory, Tini Kainrath, Georgij Makazaria and Skero, to name a few, making an appearance.

At midnight, visitors can expect a spectacular light and laser show in front of the town hall – perfectly synchronized to the sounds of Strauss’ Danube Waltz.

The ringing of the Pummerin and the Danube Waltz will be heard on all stages.

Arrival by public transport

Due to the high number of visitors in the center of the city, the U1 and U3 subway lines have been passing through the Stephansplatz station since around 9:30 p.m. for safety reasons.
