41 people killed in Imbaba church fire

The Coptic Church revealed in a post on social media, quoting sources in the Egyptian Ministry of Health, that 41 people were killed in a fire at the “St. Abu Seifen” church in the Imbaba area, Giza Governorate.

Two security sources told Archyde.com that 35 people were killed and 45 injured in the fire.

For its part, the Egyptian Public Prosecution announced the opening of an investigation into the church fire, and said it would announce the results.

For his part, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi confirmed that he is closely following the developments of the tragic accident in Al-Munira Church in Giza Governorate, and I have directed all relevant state agencies and institutions to take all necessary measures, and immediately, to deal with this incident and its effects and to provide all aspects of health care for the injured.

He added: “I offer my sincere condolences to the families of the innocent victims who moved to the side of their Lord in one of the homes in which he is worshiped.”
