A 48,500-year-old virus was discovered in the Siberia region of Russia. European researchers examined samples collected from permafrost. Researchers have termed these as ‘zombie viruses’. 13 new viruses were found frozen inside the ice.

The world of science warns that the melting of the ice caps due to the rapid increase in temperature due to climate change will cause the revival of this type of dangerous virus. The discovery was made by a team of researchers from Russia, Germany and France.
