Five people were arrested by the police in the incident of removing the underwear of female students appearing for the NEET examination at Ayur Marthoma Institute of Information Technology. College cleaners S Mariamma at Ayur Kampamkot Muttathukonam Puliyara Puthanveet, K Mariamma at Tundil West, Geethu at Kallumala Revathi, star security staff, Bina at Manjapara GG address and Jotsna Jobi at Kattanath House were arrested. ABVP district organizational secretary Vishnu was remanded in the incident of breaking the college window. The number of complainants is five. On the Sunday when the incident took place, a complaint was filed by a resident of Sooranad, followed by residents of Ochira, Kulathupuzha and Cheriya Velinallur.

The investigation team reached the college and examined the CCTV footage from the morning of the exam day. He reached the children’s home and took a statement. The arrest followed. Thiruvananthapuram Range DIG R Nisantini inspected the college. The DIG said that a thorough investigation is underway into the incident.

Star Security, Thiruvananthapuram, the National Testing Agency (NTA), was responsible for conducting the exam. The agency sub-contracted to Grievance Foods in Chatayamangalam. The agency had sought the help of the head of the MCA department of the college to conduct the examination.

Following the incident, the NTA sought a report from the observer in charge of the examination, the center superintendent who is a representative of the college management, and the district coordinator. Center Superintendent Priji Kurian Isaac reported that there were no problems. The investigation team will examine in detail the discrepancies between the girls’ statement and the report. Meanwhile, a protest was held on Tuesday led by various organizations in the college where the examination was held. Five SFI workers were injured in the clash.
