London: 500 dignitaries from foreign countries will attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth at Westminster Abbey on Monday. Official letters have been sent to the heads of all countries except Russia, Belarus and Myanmar. It will be the biggest international event hosted by Britain for decades.
US President Joe Biden, heads of Commonwealth countries including Australia, New Zealand and Canada, French President Emmanuel Macron, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Italy’s Sergio Mattarella, Turkey’s Erdogan, Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro have also confirmed their presence.
King Naruhito of Japan, King Philip VI of Spain and former Spanish King Juan Carlos I will also be present. His body was kept at St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh and was taken to London on Tuesday.
