Well, you’re in luck, because until September you can apply for a return plan from the Junta de Galicia, in the north of Spain, so that you can return to the Spanish community of your ancestors and with help of up to 6,000 thousand euros per family unit. We detail it below.

The Junta de Galicia, in northern Spain, has launched a new line of economic support for Galician families or families of Galician origin who want to return to their land, according to local media. Cuban descendants have the opportunity to participate in this return plan.

The aid consists of a subsidy of up to 6,000 euros per family unit that meets the required requirements.

The objective of this measure is to encourage the return of Galicians who were born in the community and went abroad for academic or professional reasons, as well as those who are descendants of Galicians who emigrated in the great waves of the 20th century or in the seventies.

Thus, they are given financial aid so that they can cover the costs of their move to Galicia. It also seeks to recover and retain talent or promote the entrepreneurial spirit in the community.

Return plan to Galicia for Galicians and descendants: Cubans can apply

The deadline to request aid, once published in the Official Gazette of Galicia, ends on September 30. The total budget allocated to returned Galician emigrants is 2 million euros for this year.

Who can access help to return to Galicia? According to the announcement, this aid is aimed at Galician emigrants returning in 2024, meeting some requirements.

The beneficiaries will be those who were born in the autonomous community, the spouses of Galician people born in Galicia and the descendants by degree of consanguinity of Galician people born in the region.

Some of the requirements are to have Spanish nationality before returning, to legally reside abroad for at least two years immediately prior to the date of return to Galicia, to be registered or have residence in a municipality of the Autonomous Community and that the date of return is starting January 1, 2022, inclusive.

Furthermore, the returnee must not have sufficient financial resources to receive this financial aid of up to 6,000 euros.
