Live Nation reported record-breaking third-quarter results on Thursday, November 5, as 61 million fans attended its events. This surge in global attendance and an increase in U.S. stadium concerts drove total revenue up 19% to $10.1 billion for the quarter ending Sept. 30, according to Billboard.
Drivers of Record Revenue
The company’s concerts business generated a record-high $8.7 billion during the quarter. Growth was fueled by a nearly 30% year-over-year increase in international audiences and a 13% rise in overall North American concert attendance. Specifically, September amphitheater attendance reached an all-time high, and U.S. stadiums that hosted the FIFA World Cup from May to July held a higher volume of concerts in the months following the event.
Demand for concert tickets continues to show strength. Monthly ticket sales have exceeded prior-year levels every month since January, with October ticket sales rising 20% compared to a year ago. Through October, the company has sold 170 million tickets, a 13% increase that already surpasses the total for all of last year.
International Sponsorship Drives Venue Nation Growth
Live Nation’s three main businesses contributed to a 14% increase in adjusted operating income (AOI), which totaled $1.14 billion. The company’s Venue Nation division, which operates outside of North America, saw 26 million fans attend events during the third quarter, marking a 17% increase from the previous year. Sponsorship revenue rose 14% year over year to $506 million, with 65% of that revenue originating from international markets. In this division, international sponsorship surpassed North America as the primary contributor to operating income and AOI for the quarter.
Ticketmaster also saw growth, reporting that revenue rose 9% to $870 million, while its AOI increased 10% to $316 million.
Future Projections
The concerts business reported a record-high event-related deferred revenue of $3.8 billion, with more than 180 million fans scheduled to attend future events. “Artists are taking their music to more fans in more places than ever, and fans are showing up in record numbers,” Live Nation president/CEO Michael Rapino said in a statement. “We now expect to welcome nearly 180 million fans in 2026.”
As part of its international expansion strategy, the company is on track to open or acquire 10 venues with more than 3,000 seats by the end of 2026. These venues are expected to host more than 5 million attendees this year, eventually reaching an 8 million run rate.
