Books – Ahmed Gomaa:

Many people suffer from digestive disorders, especially in the first days after the end of Ramadan, after changing their eating habits and eating different meals.

The Ministry of Health and Population published 7 important tips to avoid digestive system disorders, including:

* Eat small meals to allow for good digestion

* Chew food well

* Drink appropriate amounts of water to maintain body activity and avoid laziness and lethargy

* Do not eat excessively sweets and animal fats

* Avoid excessive drinking of soft drinks

* Eat yogurt because it contains beneficial bacteria “probiotics.”

* Do sports appropriate to your health condition, such as walking or other sports

Functional disorders are those in which the intestine appears normal but does not perform its function properly, as constipation and irritable bowel syndrome are the most common problems affecting the colon and rectum.

The main causes of digestive disorders, according to the Cleveland Clinic, include:

* Follow a low-fiber diet

* Lack of commitment to regular exercise

* Travel or other routine changes

* Eat large amounts of dairy products

* Psychological stress

* Resisting the urge to defecate

* Excessive use of laxatives, which over time leads to weakening of the intestinal muscles

* Take antacids that contain calcium or aluminum

* Taking certain medications (especially antidepressants, iron tablets, and strong pain relievers such as narcotics)

* Pregnancy for female patients
