Jeu de boules is the umbrella term for all games with metal balls. The variant that is played the most is pétanque. To start with the rules, how do you play a good game of pétanque? Requirements: a but of jack (small ball), a set of metal balls (de balls) and two teams. Officially it is possible with teams of one person (tête-á-tête), two persons (doublettes) or three persons (triplettes).

The team that starts (chosen by lot) throws the jack and then the first ball. The aim is to throw the balls closer to the jack than the opponent. When all balls have been played, the winning team gets as many points as the number of balls that are closer to the jack than the best ball of the opposing team.

1. Busy

The course on the Amstelveld is known to many (fanatic) players. It is very busy here, especially when the weather is nice. No balls with you? Borrow a set at Brasserie Nel.
