8 years later… Apple Pay launches in South Korea

As soon as Apple launches a service, it makes a point of initially releasing it in the United States and, little by little, expanding to other regions of the world. In this movement, it is very common for some resources to take time to be made available in Brazil — and many complain regarding this.

Despite this, it must be admitted that we are not always the last to receive the news. That’s because, along with the announcement of the new color of the iPhones 14, Apple made the arrival of the Apple Pay To South Korea — basically eight years following the service launched.

The company did not give details of when exactly it will make the service available in the country, but confirmed that it would be launched soon and, “Korean users will be able to make easy, fast and secure payments offline at stores and applications that use Apple Pay on their iPhone, including the new yellow iPhone”.

According to 9to5Macthe resource was supposed to have arrived in the country in November last year, but problems with the Financial Supervisory Service Commission (FSS; the local regulatory body) ended up postponing the launch.

From what was indicated on the official website, therefore, it seems that this time South Koreans will be able to take advantage of Apple’s contactless payment technology.

Since the country is the land of Samsung, I wonder when we will start seeing iPhones in dramas instead of South Korean devices… ????
