Abbot Petrus Pilsinger, LAbg Anton Kasser, Franz Leisch and PRAEVENIRE President Schelling give initial impetus and emphasize that solutions are now at stake

Seitenstetten Numerous prominent representatives from politics, healthcare and the media attended the opening of the 8th PRAEVENIRE Health Days, which this year will take place from Monday, May 22nd to Friday, May 26th at the Seitenstetten Abbey in Lower Austria. Health care and health policy have become a central topic in the media – and increasingly negative. PRAEVENIRE was the impetus for many of the topics now being discussed, PRAEVENIRE President Dr. Hans Jörg Schelling proudly in his video message. However, often only individual measures are taken up. What is missing is the big picture. The non-profit association PRAEVENIRE, with its approach of focusing on the needs of the patients, has exactly this overview and works continuously to ensure that the individual demands and recommendations for action form an overall picture like pieces of a mosaic. He is pleased that the numerous experts are again working intensively on new topics this year, which will then be included in the next PRAEVENIRE yearbook and serve as a benchmark for politics and decision-makers in the health system.

Live and work for the people

In his words of welcome, host Abbot Mag. Petrus Pilsinger, OSB, recalled Saint Benedict, who said: If the task is too big, one should come to help or accept it, since one person alone cannot cope with it – he sees this function as well in the gathering of experts who contribute to improving the healthcare system with their knowledge and experience. One should not forget the reflection and the question: “What do you live for, why are you doing this – for the salvation and health of the people”, said the abbot.

Health is the greatest good – everyone is aware of that, and that is precisely why it is our task and responsibility as representatives of the federal government, the federal states, the municipalities and especially as decision-makers in the health care system, social insurance, universities and the education system associations and clubs active in the healthcare sector and – last but not least – the industry, to stay up to date with the latest research and stay on the ball with regard to the current developments in this area,” explains Anton Kasser, Deputy Deputy Secretary The PRAEVENIRE Health Days were opened by Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner. According to Kasser, the recommendations for action and measures developed by the health experts are an important decision-making aid for politicians and provide the basis for a positive development of the health system in Austria.

Don’t whine, act

“PRAEVENIRE is a great platform where, if you look at the results of the last few years, you can clearly see that the focus is not on whining, but on action,” explains Dr. Franz Leisch, Chief Digital Officer of PRAEVENIRE. “We know how to do it, we’ve already done it – and now we have to do it much better,” Leisch once again encouraged the participants of the 8th PRAEVENIRE Health Days.
