Local police were called Thursday evening around 7:30 p.m. to an incident involving a 51-year-old resident of Houthulst. Upon seeing the officers, the individual fled. A chase ensued at high speed.
The 50-year-old then crashed head-on into another vehicle. The driver of the other car was seriously injured and did not survive his injuries.
The prosecution has established that the fifty-year-old on the run was driving under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. He was presented on Saturday to an investigating judge, who placed him under arrest warrant for manslaughter.
