Vigo, Mar 30 (EFE).- The Galician educator Antía Cal Vázquez, born in Havana in 1923, has died at the age of 98, as reported this Wednesday by the general director of the Galaxia publishing house, Francisco Castro, who has defined as “one of the great pedagogues of Galicia”.

“Very sad news (…) May the earth be light to him,” he wrote on his official Twitter account, in which he recalls that this editorial published his “beautiful” ‘This path that we fix together’.

This woman, born in Havana on April 18, 1923, has always defended that “seeing a class well given is like going to a concert by a good orchestra.”

In 1961 she founded the Rosalía de Castro School in Vigo, a private educational center from which she carried out an innovative and progressive pedagogy that was not common in that Spain of the sixties.

Antía Cal came from a family of emigrants, originally from Muras (Lugo) and when he returned to Galicia, when he finished high school, he was clear that he was not going to resign himself to simply studying Commerce, by the will of his father; and it was her determination that led her to become a teacher.
