Dead Space remake refines its release date

With nice glimpses of the environment

This week, Motive Studios a tenu a new live in order to present – in a rather advanced and surprising way – the latest advances in the development of the Dead Space remake. If fans were able to find out the artistic direction of the title and the job done on environmentsthey were especially entitled to a release date: January 2023.

Announcement of a release date is quite surprising considering that the remake was only announced that in July 2021while the development was not only in its infancy. However, Motive seems rather confident in its prognosis, since the previous live also ended with an estimate for early 2023. No one is ever safe from a last-minute postponement, but Dead Space looks set to make a comeback from next year.

According to the successive developers in the video, the remake is fully playable internallywhich means that the team is now in the most complicated production phase for a video game: tweaking. Technically, Dead Space is not yet in alpha phasebut if all goes well, a gameplay demo which should be representative of the final game will be ready in time for Halloweeni.e. for the month of October.

Apart from that, the live was particularly instructive on artistic work accomplished on the remake. Motive was particularly good at transcribing the universe of the game released in 2018while taking advantage of the technologies offered by the Frostbite enginein particular on the plays of light which exploit impressive volumetric lighting et global illumination (without resorting to ray-tracing).

As a reminder, the Dead Space remake will not be a 100% faithful recreation of the original game. Motive wants to take advantage of this revisit to update the franchise to modern standardsbut also do modifications et additions when they can be justified. During the live, the artists explain that they want to exploit this new level of detail to always bring more environmental storytelling.
