Due to the quality it offers in its academic and administrative processes, the degree in BUAP Medicine obtained the international accreditation of its program for the period 2022-2027, by the Mexican Council for the Accreditation of Medical Education (Comaem), the highest body in this matter.
Among the aspects that are valued to achieve this accreditation that obtains the Bachelor of Medicine for the first time, are the selection of students, academic plan, teaching-learning process, profile of the teaching staff, as well as infrastructure, inputs, administrative procedures and results, as announced by the director of the Faculty of Medicine, Guillermo Vazquez de Lara Cisneros.
“There is an instrument that takes into account all these factors, from the vision and mission of the School of Medicine, to interviews with students, since We are visited by a group of appraisers who analyze aspects, both administrative and academic, emphasizing the results and the effects on the students and how they perceive the teaching-learning process”.
The director of the Faculty of Medicine asserted that, due to the pandemic, achieving this accreditation was not an easy task. He recognized the previous work of her predecessor, Dr. Indiana Torres Escobar, by making a great effort to coordinate and organize an entire body of teachers and students who participated in the creation of the evidence and evidence that They climb onto the Comaem platform.
To this effort, highlighted Dr. Vázquez de Lara, we must add the work of Dr. Guillermo Muñoz Zurita, an evaluation expert. Similarly, the Quality Development Program, dand the Office of the Vice President for Teaching, which is also essential to achieve this goal.
“The secret is in coordinating and working together because we are already a good university, so what was needed was to articulate everything related to the information that Comaem required of us.”
He added that it heeded the recommendations made by this body, which now represent a guide to improve the work of the faculty, in order to continue advancing through the opportunities that exist in other areas.
They have 14 researchers
Currently, the Bachelor of Medicine at BUAP has 14 members of the National System of Researchers (SNI): one is level III; two, level II; 10, level I; and a candidate. In addition, 11 teachers have Prodep recognition.

Regarding its educational offer, bachelor’s degrees are taught in Biomedicine, Forensic Science, Physiotherapy, Clinical Nutrition and Medicine, in addition to the Associate Professional programs in Imaging and Medical Emergencies. He also has master’s degrees in Health Services Administration and in Medical Sciences and Research.
Similarly, grants academic endorsement to 22 medical specialties in different hospitals in the country. This faculty is also part of the Ceneval Technical Council, through the application and validation of the graduation exams of the Bachelor of Medicine, in the Register of Excellence Degree Programs. Likewise, the Planning Committee and the Mexican Association of Faculties and Schools of Medicine and the Interinstitutional Commission for the Training of Human Resources for Health (Cifrhs).
