Chouchou…. Why do we still fall for “A guy, a girl”!.

The series with Alexandra Lamy and Jean Dujardin has not aged a bit and we still take as much pleasure in rediscovering the daily life of this mythical couple on the small screen. Why do we love them? We take stock.

Adapted from a Quebec program, the series “A guy, a girl” has 5 seasons and no less than 438 episodes!

France 2

couple hassles

Anyone who has never recognized themselves in the situations presented in the series raise their hand! Disputes, squabbles, jealousy, proof of love and daily life together bring all the salt we need to laugh at life as a couple (to be honest, we also cringe sometimes when acknowledging our bad faith).

We identify with Jean and Alex as well as with their minor or major conflicts, we draw a parallel with what we experience and what we share with our partner. What do we also appreciate? The tone and humor of the series despite the few clichés that we find there and the character traits of the characters that we sometimes find difficult to bear. Alex and Jean are like those good friends we adore despite their faults. Moreover, we talk about it in the next point!

Actors and their characters

Jean Dujardin and Alexandra Lamy were revealed thanks to “A guy, a girl” and we quickly fell under their spell. When they were auditioned for their role, the production had already met nearly three hundred actors but none seemed to correspond to what it was looking for. Their couple on the screen was obvious as the chemistry between them was obvious. Chouchou and Loulou had found their shoes.

The bubbly and dynamic blonde who goes off on a quick turn, and the nonchalant man with a macho hair on the edges won us over from the first episodes. Their faults (Jean complains a lot and Alex sometimes shows a hysterical side) are fortunately compensated by a joyous slew of qualities. He is touching and funny, she is bright and understanding. In short, we never tire of their adventures and their dirty characters!

The format

As soon as the first notes of the credits sound, we already have a smile on our faces!

Each episode lasts about 6 minutes which gives a frenetic pace to the series! We love. Filmed as a series of sketches, it often sets out to present a particular theme (cooking, shopping, holidays, a concert, etc.). Results ? We never get bored.

Launched in 1999 but still relevant, “Un gar, un fille” is the ideal program for having a good time and debriefing what you are going through with your significant other. See you on NRJ12!

Editor for various Swiss newspapers, blogger and passionate about words, Elvire Küenzi loves series (she fell into the magic cauldron while watching Sex and the City and never came out)! She also writes girly novels while eating marshmallows and sipping cocktails (in moderation, of course).
