Four new iPhones, three new Apple Watches and news from space: you will see that at the Apple event on Wednesday.
It’s that time again on Wednesday. The most important Apple presentation of the year is coming up, showing the latest version of what is by far the most important Apple product. blue News will accompany the “Far Out” keynote at 7 p.m. with a live ticker and will give you an overview of what to expect in advance.
iPhone 14
As usual in previous years, there will be four new models, but this time in different sizes. There will no longer be a mini version of the iPhone. Apparently the sales figures were too bad. Instead, the basic version should now also be available in a larger version with a 6.7-inch screen. The iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Max (possibly called Plus), the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone Pro Max are expected to be shown on Wednesday.
The innovations of the basic model iPhone 14 will probably be limited. It will likely get the same design as its immediate predecessor and, like its big brother iPhone 14 Max, will feature the iPhone 13’s A15 chip. Apple is breaking with the previous practice of equipping all new iPhones with the latest self-developed chip. After all, an improvement in the camera can be expected in these two cheaper 2022 models.

iPhone 14 Pro
For iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max there is already a little more planned. You should get an always-on display, for example, so the screen should constantly display information. So that this doesn’t bring the battery life to its knees, there is a larger battery. Then the notch, the notch at the top of the screen, is also eliminated on these models. The camera and Face ID sensors are instead housed in cutouts in the display.
The two top models also come with a dramatically improved main camera, which will now have a resolution of 48 megapixels – four times more than the 12 megapixels that have been standard for years. This will also make 8K videos possible, among other things. With these new features, however, a significant price increase compared to the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max should also be expected.
Text messages from space
In addition to the picture and motto of the invitation to the keynote (“Far Out”), various reports from Apple insiders also point to an extraordinary innovation. The iPhone 14 should also be able to communicate via satellite.
Two weeks ago, the US mobile communications provider T-Mobile and SpaceX announced a feature that would allow their customers to make calls and send text messages via the Starlink satellite network. Elon Musk may have wanted to forestall Apple.

The iPhone group has apparently entered into a cooperation with satellite provider Globalstar, such as analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported. The iPhone 14 should also be able to connect to the satellites in areas without cell phone reception. However, unlike SpaceX and T-Mobile, the new Apple feature should only allow text messages via satellite. And for regulatory reasons, it’s likely that the functionality will only be available in the US at first.

The Apple Watch will get the first supporting role at the keynote. The Apple Watch 8 will have the same design as its predecessor. Innovations include a temperature sensor and a function for detecting car accidents.
Then, however, a Pro version of the Apple Watch should also be launched. This gets a larger screen and is specially hardened to be suitable for extreme sports. The price should be extreme, around 1000 francs are expected.
Finally, a newer version of the Apple Watch SE, the slimmed-down model, should also be presented, which could be aimed primarily at children. Apple recently repositioned the Watch SE as a tool for helicopter parents to keep track of where their kids are without having to equip them directly with a smartphone and all the temptations of the internet.
