When Portugal, a country of emigration, finds Switzerland, a land of welcome for the very strong Lusitanian community established on its soil – the third behind Italy and Germany –, it is almost a derby of hearts. “We would have liked to avoid Switzerland”, summarizes Frederico Ribeiro. At 39, the man chairs Sport Genève Benfica – one of the six Portuguese clubs affiliated to the Geneva Cantonal Football Association – as well as the official casa Benfica (300 members) which is attached to it.
