National League: Friborg downgrades Biel at home – rts.ch

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

Freiburg crushed Biel 6-1 in the only National League match of the evening. The Seelanders never recovered from the supersonic departure of the Fribourgeois, who were already leading 2-0 following 52 seconds of play.

4 days ago, Bienne came to teach the Dragons a lesson in the same ice rink (6-3). This time, Christian Dubé’s players immediately showed their intentions. The people of Fribourg, it is true, were well helped by the porter Säteri, who had a dark evening.

The Finn first conceded an incredible goal following 14” of play. He let slip a harmless shot from De la Rose from a tight angle, before granting a bad rebound perfectly exploited by Rask 38” later.

A double for Kuokkanen

The Seelanders still took a hit on the head with 2 Friborg goals at the start of the 2nd period by Kuokkanen (22nd) and Bertschy (25th), who took advantage of another blunder from Säteri.

The reduction of the score by Forster (31st) did not change the course of the match. Schmid (45th) and Kuokkanen, for his second success of the evening (51st), gave the Dragons a comfortable lead in power-play. These 3 points allow the Friborg residents to come back to 1 point from Zurich (4th) and 3 points from Rapperswil (3rd).
