Eduardo Romay has been announced as the captain of Kochi Blue Spikers owned by Muthoot Pappachan Group in the second edition of the Prime Volleyball League. Vipul Kumar is the vice-captain. The league starts on February 4 in Bengaluru. The 27-year-old Roma Opposita, the first player from Peru to play in the Asian and European leagues, will take the field.
Before joining Kochi Blue Spikers, Romay played with various teams in Spain, Turkey, Austria and Saudi Arabia. Romay said that he was very happy to get the opportunity to lead the Kochi Blue Spikers. “I am thankful to the team owners and the coach for reposing faith in me and giving me the responsibility of captaincy,” he added. Team owner Thomas Muthoot said that Roma’s experience of playing in the leagues of different countries where he led the national team will be beneficial for Kochi Blue Spikers.
