The former CEO of La Une will be responsible for promoting French cinema for export.

The former CEO of TF1, Gilles Pélisson, has been elected for three years at the head of Unifrance, the organization responsible for promoting French cinema in the world announced on Friday. He was chosen by a steering committee made up of 60 members and faced with him the former Minister of Youth and Sports and president of the CNC Frédérique Bredin, Anne Durupty, former general manager of Arte, and the producer Marie Masmonteil .

Gilles Pélisson succeeds Serge Toubiana, at the head of Unifrance since 2017. The former TF1 employee arrives following a hardly encouraging year 2022 for French films for export: still affected by the effects of Covid-19 on cinemas, French works had only recorded 27 million admissions internationally, slightly less than half of an average year over the past decade, according to figures from Unifrance.
