PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) confirmed that the operation of the Whoosh Fast Train on Sunday (28/4) remained normal following the 6.5 magnitude earthquake which was centered in the Garut area, West Java, on Saturday night (27/4).
PT KCIC Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said that the earthquake had no impact on the infrastructure of the first high-speed train in Southeast Asia, because the infrastructure structure was designed to withstand earthquakes up to magnitude 8.
His party admitted that they had inspected all stations, lines and operational supporting facilities for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train. The inspection took place from 00.30 WIB – 03.00 WIB today.

“Based on the results of the inspection, all operational infrastructure conditions were declared safe and there was no damage, so today the Whoosh Fast Train continues to serve passengers according to schedule,” said Eva in an official statement, Sunday (28/4).
Eva explained that when the earthquake occurred on Saturday at 23.30 WIB, the sensors on the Whoosh Fast Train infrastructure to read emergency situations immediately gave a signal. There are no operational activities for the Whoosh trip during these hours. After receiving information via emergency sensors, the protocol for checking lanes and other facilities was immediately carried out.
“When there was an earthquake last night, sensors detected it. So we immediately carried out protocols to anticipate it,” concluded Eva.
Since it was built, all buildings and facilities supporting the operation of the Whoosh Fast Train have been designed with high technology. Not only is it earthquake resistant with a magnitude of 8, the entire building is designed to be used for the next hundred years.
