A 3rd loss in a row for the Devils

New Jersey suffered its third straight NHL loss on Saturday night. The Devils lost 4-2 to the Florida Panthers, despite Nico Hischier’s 29th goal this season.

The Valais center opened the scoring in the 23rd minute to sign his 64th point in this 2022/23 exercise. The Devils even led 2-0 at the end of the first two thirds, during which Bernese goalkeeper Akira Schmid stopped the 30 shots on target by the Panthers.

But the Devils accumulated errors in the final period, conceding three goals in 2’30” to lose control of a game they seemed to master. It is also the first time this season that they have lost in regulation time a match in which they were leading after two thirds.

Conversely, the Coyotes of Janis Moser picked up their fourth victory in a row on Saturday evening by dominating the Blackhawks of Philipp Kurashev 4-2. Moser assisted for his 26th point of the season, while Kurashev remained ‘mute’ in a Chicago team that is mathematically eliminated from the play-off race.
