According to reports from Hong Kong 01 and Sing Tao Daily, a 4-year-old boy in Tsui King Garden, Nan Hang Village, Tai Tong Road, Yuen Long, Hong Kong, was found by his mother at 3 am on the 11th after vomiting and comatose, and he did not respond to calls. When the ambulance crew was reported to the scene, they found that the boy had weak breathing and pulse. After rescue, he was immediately sent to Pok Oi Hospital, but he was confirmed dead after arriving at the hospital. The boy has no history of chronic medical conditions.

Nasopharyngeal secretions taken for the boy after his death were reported to be positive for COVID-19, with a Ct value of 20 and a high viral load. He started to have a fever on the 9th and vomited in the early morning of the 11th.

Tony, the boy’s neighbor, pointed out that there are only 7 houses in Cuijing Garden, and most of the residents are familiar with each other. Children in the village play and ride bicycles together from time to time, and they do not wear masks. He vaguely remembered that the boy was still playing with other children on the street a few days before the accident. The foreign domestic helper of the boy’s house revealed on the 10th that the young master was unwell.

According to reports, the hospital is following up with the Centre for Health Protection and conducting infection control follow-up, and the case has been referred to the coroner for follow-up. If the boy is confirmed to be diagnosed with COVID-19, he will become the first child in Hong Kong to die from the virus and the youngest to die.

According to reports, since the outbreak of the epidemic in Hong Kong, a total of 221 patients have died, but most of them are elderly people, and no children have died from the disease. The youngest person to die was a 39-year-old man and the first person to die from the virus.
