A 58-year-old man dies of COVID-19

A 58-year-old man is the latest victim of the COVID-19 reported today, Thursday, by the Health Department.

The death raised to 3,228 the accumulated total in this line since the emergency began. The death was registered on October 25.

However, the agency indicated that the man did not reside in Puerto Rico. Nor was his place of residence accurately reported.

The island averages one death per day, based on a seven-day period. Until today, the number of deaths that have occurred so far in October amounts to 59, according to the agency’s website.

From elsewhere, the number of people hospitalized by the virus dropped to 69, and is divided into 54 adults and 15 pediatric patients.

Of the total of hospitalized adult patients, 12 are confined in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while 11 of these are connected to an artificial respirator.

On the other hand, the virus positivity rate on the island increased to 1.94%, according to the Health portal.

The average number of confirmed positive cases reported by the agency is 36, while the probable cases are 40. Health included in the average the results of samples taken between October 12 and 26.

Regarding vaccination, the agency said that 2,534,675 people over 12 years of age have received at least one dose of authorized vaccines and 2,302,936 people older than 12 years have the dose series completed.
