“It’s so hot I can’t breathe,” said Erlin Tumaron, 60, who works at a seaside resort in Cavite province, in the northern part of the Philippines, where the thermometer hit 47 degrees Celsius yesterday (April 23, 2024). .
“It is impressive to see our pools still empty. We expected people to come to swim, but it seems they are reluctant to come out of their homes because of the heat,” he adds.
