Local residents drew attention to the bear wandering in the city around noon on Sunday on social media. Our reports were also confirmed by the Zsolna police.
The animal was also seen on the quay and around the mall.
The operational center of the rescue service (OSZZS) later informed that there were reports of two persons with minor injuries, one of whom was injured as a result of a direct encounter with a bear.
The police and fire department, the brown bear intervention group, and the Slovak Hunting Association are also present at the scene.
According to Viktória Čapčíková, the city’s spokesperson, the bear swam across the Vág river in the direction of Ploštín and is already outside the inhabited area.
