Le launch of the GeForce RTX 4000 is approaching and every day brings more and more rumors and leaks. It is sometimes difficult to sort out the statements before the launch of products that are so expected. The latest rumor is quite serious: it gives us an estimate of the result of a key benchmark.
Over 19,000 points on Time Spy Extreme
It is the Twitter account kopite7kimi which affirms it: the future GeForce RTX 4090 from Nvidia will be able to exceed 19,000 points on Time Spy Extreme. This is one of the benchmarks offered on 3DMark. It uses the capabilities of DirectX 12 with rather demanding 4K rendering, but without ray tracing. This is a good test to measure the capability of a graphics card in most games. That’s why we test every graphics card with this test, giving you a good idea of where they stand in terms of power.
As you can see, if the GeForce RTX 4090 exceeds 19,000 points, it would mark a big gap with the previous generation which peaked at 9117 points with the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti in our tests. Even the most powerful GeForce RTX 3090 and 3090 Ti do not exceed 12,000 points on this demanding test. The GeForce RTX 4090 would make short work of it with a score of 19,000 points.

This score would be achieved in particular by Nvidia’s ability to reach an operating frequency of more than 3 GHz, in particular thanks to the use of the TSMC 4N manufacturing process. We will have to wait for Nvidia’s presentation to verify all this.

Obviously, when a simple Twitter account affirms the result of a test, without even a screenshot, you have to take the tweezers of rigor. If we have chosen to relay this rumor, it is because kopite7kimi is not at his first attempt. In 2020, before the presentation of the GeForce RTX 3090, he claimed that the latter could almost reach 10,000 points on 3DMark Time Spy Extreme, the same test.
In fact, the RTX 3090 very slightly exceeds 10,000 points thanks to various Nvidia optimizations. Also note that he had made this announcement in July 2020 before Nvidia’s late summer presentation. The calendar seems to repeat itself.
