How did the draw go?
The 32 teams were split into four pots, Pot 1 comprising the defending champion, the UEFA Europa League winner and six domestic champions. Pots 2 to 4 were determined by the classification of the coefficients of the clubs. A team from each hat was drawn in each of the eight groups, from A to H.
No team could fall against a team from its own association, while teams from the same association were grouped in pairs so as not to play on the same match night.
