A citizen demanded the Ministry of Health to open an investigation into the “death injection”, which he described as a medical error that led to the death of his twenty-year-old brother in a “Qunfudhah Health” hospital, noting that nearly two weeks passed without knowing the course of the investigation or without anyone communicating with him, while confirming the health of Al-Qunfudhah stated that the matter is under procedure according to the policies followed to study it and explain its reasons for dealing with it according to the practice, with the possibility of referring the case to the competent authorities.
Citizen Musa Al-Rizki said: To “Previously”: “My brother Nayef was suffering from sickle cell anemia and was suffering from her pain and a sore throat with a fever. For these symptoms, he went to the emergency department at Thripan General Hospital on Saturday, early Rajab, around 10 pm, and he remained in the emergency department until dawn on Sunday, so he was admitted to hypnosis. In the hospital’s internal section,” he added, “We received a call from the hospital that same afternoon, and that we had to attend because of the importance, and when we came, we were surprised by them informing us of my brother’s death.”
He continued, “By asking them the following day about the cause of death, especially that the victim was in good health, except for the usual pain from anemia, they told me orally in the hospital that an internal investigation committee had been formed, and that it appeared to them that the cause of death was that they injected him with an injection that caused him a severe allergy that led to his death.” Swelling of the throat and tongue, as a result of which he stopped breathing and the heart, although – according to what they said – they conducted an allergy test for him, and it was negative, and they tried to rescue him, but – unfortunately – he passed away.
He pointed out that such an injection was given to him about three weeks before his death and caused him the same problem, but they made up for the first injection and he was treated; While the second injection killed him, and that is recorded in his medical file, and I also did not find a trace of the allergy test, which they said was given to him, indicating that its effect remains in the body for several days.
And he added, “I submitted a complaint to (937), and the Thripan Hospital contacted me, and they informed me that the complaint had reached them and they submitted a request to Al-Qunfudhah Health Affairs to form an investigation team for specialized consultants, and since that time no one has contacted me and I do not know the results of the investigation.”
“I appeal to the Minister of Health and Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Emir of the Holy Makkah Region, to form a neutral team that will examine the causes of death and hold the culprit accountable,” Al-Rezki said.
To this, Al-Qunfudhah Health said in its response to “Previously”: “Firstly, Al-Qunfudhah Health extends its deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased – may God have mercy on him – and confirms that the event is under procedure according to the policies used to study this event, and explain its causes, to deal with it according to what is followed, and the results of This will determine the full details of the death, and if the results show what needs to be referred to the competent authorities, this will be done, as medical errors that result in death or loss of benefit – if proven – are considered by the legitimate health authority.
