A fugitive from Russia in Vilnius: at home she was threatened with prison for one message on Instagram

The girl is in her 20s and was a university student in northern Russia until this year, when she was accused of “justifying terrorism” and “discrediting the Russian armed forces.” She now faces up to ten years in prison.

Her crime? An Instagram post asking why Ukrainians cheered when a bridge to Russian-occupied Crimea was attacked in October.

Because of this post, O. Krivcova was added to the Kremlin’s official list of terrorists and extremists. She was placed under house arrest, banned from using the phone or the Internet.

O. Krivcova did not wait for the court verdict: she fled the country last week.
