a game inspired by the cinema of the 50s

The 1950s ‘B’ sci-fi movies are well known for their ludicrous plots, poor acting, and very low budget. Although today we see movies like Plan 9 from outer space, Earth vs. flying saucers e invaders from mars as something ridiculous, there are those who appreciate the effort put into making them a reality. That’s why we love the tribute that the new indie game pays them Squad 51 vs the Flying Saucers.

How faithful is this title to that type of cinema? Check out the trailer below to find out:

As you can see, the purpose of the Loomiarts studio is to transfer the “cheap” aesthetic of 1950s science fiction movies to the world of video games. It’s not just about the design of the ships and the absurd plots. They also shot scenes with real actors that perfectly recreate the style of those films.

This is not the only video game that is inspired by the series B of the fifties. The Serie Destroy all Humans also takes a lot of elements from these moviesbut it does not have such a defined aesthetic.

The game will have 11 levels with dynamic difficulty that will adjust to the abilities of each player. We can also enjoy this title cooperatively with a second player.

Squad 51 vs the Flying Saucers It will go on sale in the last quarter of 2022 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam). If you can’t wait to play it, You can now download Squadron 51 – Prologue on Steam. This is kind of a three level demo that serves as an introduction to the main game.
