a good price/autonomy ratio with the XL battery

The Born adopts a large battery which allows to have 550 km of autonomy, for 40.500 € bonus deducted.

After offering more power, via a 230 hp VZ variant, the Cupra Born offers more autonomy. The VZ version is now available with an XL battery. Its net capacity is the largest known on the MEB platform: 77 kWh, compared to 58 kWh with the L battery.

Thanks to this battery, the Born thus enters the clan of electric cars with great autonomy. According to the WLTP homologation cycle, it can travel 550 km on a full charge. As a reminder, on the VZ battery L version, it is 421 km.

With the e-Boost function, the power can therefore reach 170 kW, or 230 hp. It takes 7 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. And some motorists risk being surprised at a red light, with only 2.8 seconds for the 0 to 50 km/h. This sportier version benefits from larger brakes and a mode that allows you to cut the trajectory control.

Renault Megane E-Tech vs Cupra Born: tight duel among electric compacts, who wins?

Cupra has set a well-considered price: €46,500. As the limit for having the maximum bonus was raised on July 1 from 45,000 to 47,000 €, the Born thus benefits from the boost of 6,000 €. According to the brand, it is even the only electric car with more than 500 km of autonomy in this case. The bonus price deducted is therefore €40,500.

With the same battery (and a range of 556 km), the cousin Volkswagen ID.3 Pro S Active is displayed at 48,150 €, and therefore only has a bonus of 2,000 €. As for the Renault Mégane, the EV60 220 hp version is at €47,400. For these models, by negotiating a little with the seller, we go back below the €47,000 mark to get the maximum bonus. But on the side of the French, the autonomy is lower by a hundred kilometers. Another disadvantage of the Mégane: a maximum direct current load of 130 kW, against 170 kW for the Cupra.
