A Kuwaiti court fined the media, Mai Al-Aidan, 500 dinars, and annulled the previous verdict of her innocence in the case of bullying, insulting and slandering the Egyptian comedian Ahmed Badir, after she described him on social media as “bald”, according to what was published by local media.
The details of the case date back to 2020, when the Kuwaiti media published a picture of the Egyptian artist with his family, describing him as “bald”, which caused anger on social media, and the artist’s family.
However, the media denied directing any insult to the Egyptian artist, citing a number of Badir comedic plays in which they deliberately ridiculed this issue as far as describing it. The case reached the corridors of the judiciary, after the Egyptian artist filed a case accusing the media of bullying him. And in July of 2021, the judiciary acquitted Al-Eidan of the charge of insulting and defaming the Egyptian artist. However, the Appeal Court of Misdemeanors in Kuwait decided to overturn the previous ruling acquitting Al-Aidan in the case.
And on his account on “Facebook”, the Egyptian artist expressed his thanks to the Kuwaiti judiciary, saying: “Thank you to the proud Kuwaiti judiciary.”
