When she woke up… she had forgotten everything. “I lost the first 42 years of my life,” she says. A memory loss evaluated between 90% and 95%.
Jael no longer remembers either her own face or that of those close to her. “It really is like waking up one morning with a face other than your own.” Fortunately, the young woman can count on the support of her mother and her companion, with whom she had been in a relationship for two years. “You have the person you love in front of you, and you see that it doesn’t send back… not anything, but just anxiety”, explains the latter.
At the end of the operation, Jaël depicts herself as “a living dead”. “A human being, what makes his wealth is what he has lived, it is what he loves, it is what makes up what he has been since he was born, says- her with emotion, and when we no longer have that, we live upright, but we live dead”, confides the young woman.
Today, Jaël still has a lot to relearn.
