The Municipal Council of Moudon has approved the sale of an industrial zone measuring more than 35,000 m² to Immostef Suisse SA. The company specializes in logistics for temperature-controlled agri-food products and plans to bring together 60 workstations in Moudon. It was referred to the area by the Service for the Promotion of the Economy and Innovation of the Canton of Vaud and the regional community of La Broye. The sale of the land for over 4 million francs was initially met with some reluctance due to the potential increase in truck traffic, but was ultimately approved by a large majority of the Council. The land will provide Immostef with a built surface of over 14,000 m², allowing it to consolidate its storage units in Bussigny and Satigny and reduce transport distances. The city plans to allocate the proceeds, after deducting certain funds, to various new funds for economic development, the climate plan, and municipal real estate.
A logistician plans some 60 jobs in Moudon
The Municipal Council has validated the sale of an area of more than 35,000 m² in an industrial zone to the company Immostef Suisse SA.
“I understand that this additional truck traffic can be scary. But anyway, they are already going through Moudon. We have the opportunity that they stop there for the good of our economy”. Faced with the reluctance of some elected Greens, Etienne Habegger, municipal councilor of the Entente, showed his determination to authorize the Municipality to sell an area of more than 35,000 m² to the company Immostef Suisse SA, on Tuesday. The legislative finally followed his opinion by 37 yes against 3 no (5 abstentions).
European specialist in the logistics of temperature-controlled agri-food products, the STEF group generates a turnover of 52 million francs in the country. It employs 280 people and plans to bring together 60 workstations in Moudon, where it was referred through the Service for the Promotion of the Economy and Innovation of the Canton of Vaud and the regional community of La Broye.
“It’s a great opportunity to sell this land in one piece.”
By the end of 2025, various premises offering a built surface of more than 14,000 m² should see the light of day. As a result, Immostef will be able to bring together its storage units in Bussigny and Satigny and minimize its transport distances.
Over 4 million
If Moudon had planned a sale price for its industrial plots at 180 fr. per square meter at the start of the legislature, the transaction was finally set at 115 fr. the square meter. On the one hand because Canton and Commune provide support, but also because the equipment will be made by the buyer and the configuration of the sloping land made the site difficult to sell. “It’s a great opportunity to sell this land in one piece,” pleaded the trustee Carole Pico.
The arguments convinced a large majority of the plenum. By the way, Moudon will collect more than 4 million francs. The city plans to allocate this sum to various new funds for economic development, the climate plan or municipal real estate.
