a man threw himself from the platform under a train, the victim killed instantly

Big rescue mobilization this Saturday morning in Havré: the firefighters from the Mons barracks as well as the police, the SAMU and the ambulance went to Havré station a little before 10 a.m. “At 9.36 a.m. this Saturday morning, the big alarm rang indicating an incident at Havré station,” explains Infrabel.

A dead man

Infrabel confirms that a personal collision occurred. A man threw himself from the station platform under a train. The victim died instantly. On site, a judicial perimeter was set up for the investigation. Around 11:30 a.m. this Saturday, the prosecution was expected at the scene of the accident.

Train traffic was immediately interrupted to make way for emergency services. Trains between La Louvière-Sud and Mons are canceled until further notice. The duration of the interruption is not yet known. Around noon this Saturday, the emergency services and the police were still on the spot.

Train passengers were taken care of by SNCB, which chartered replacement buses. “As long as the police are on site to observe the incident, we cannot yet predict when traffic will resume,” adds Infrabel. Avoid trains between La Louvière-Sud and Mons. “Listen to the announcements, consult the bulletin boards or plan your trip via the SNCB app or sncb.be for more information”, advises the SNCB.
