a metal door falls on a child in Wevelgem

On Sunday morning, a child found himself under a metal door in the playground of the SPWe-Basis primary school in Wevelgem.

The child was accompanying a parent who was rehearsing with a dance group at the time of the accident, reports the Nieuwsblad.

When the child went outside to play, he allegedly pulled on the metal door of an old fireplace. “She must have come off and landed on the child’s upper body,” said Jean-Pierre Demeestere, firefighter from the Fluvia emergency zone.

The child was taken to hospital and his condition is said to be stable.
