The man wanted to go on a leisurely mountain tour around 8:30 a.m Head to the 1261 meter high Mahdlgupf summit on Lake Attersee (Vöcklabruck district). But the hike turned out to be more challenging than expected: the 31-year-old apparently accidentally got on the via ferrata. This begins with a key passage that is graded D/E (very difficult).
Due to his exhaustion, the man called the emergency services at 9:20 a.m. Ultimately, the helicopter was not necessary because the German had already been located by mountain rescuers. They brought him to safety; the 31-year-old was uninjured.
There was another mountain rescue operation the evening before at Traunstein in Gmunden. Four young hikers misjudged the time and ultimately couldn’t find their way any further.
