Alois Mühlbacher (27) presents his song repertoire on the recording “Urlicht”. So the countertenor ventured onto a demanding stage, which singers usually only enter at the peak of their career.

He chose Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss for the songs, and this with the emotionally powerful heavy contents of Friedrich Rückert. In this tone they were correctly interpreted by Mühlbacher. Furthermore, Mahler with two pieces from “Des Knaben Wunderhorn”, performed by Mühlbacher with intimacy and chastity of expression.
The well-known Strauss songs set several high points, in which he increased an effective expansion of sound so much that they became no less effective than his familiar orchestral songs. Mühlbacher is accompanied artistically by his teacher from the Florian Boys’ Choir, Franz Farnberger.
