A “national crisis” in Australia because of “cabbage”

Australia’s prime minister has announced that he will meet with top officials to discuss the rising cost of lettuce, following a local restaurant chain’s decision to replace the greens with cabbage in its burgers.
Center-left leader Anthony Albanese called the fast-food chain’s decision “crazy” and joked that the situation had become a “national crisis”.
Lettuce prices have risen by as much as 300 percent in Australian cities, due to recent floods and rising global fuel prices.
The price of a head of iceberg lettuce has increased from $2 to regarding $8 in Sydney and Melbourne.
