Governor Rolando Figueroa and Senator Lucila Crexell agreed, this Tuesday, to begin working together so that the efforts of the Neuquén provincial government have support in the Upper House of the National Congress, as reported through the official news portal of the government of the province of Neuquén. It was reported that the senator will create a bloc that will be called the Neuquén Community, in obvious allusion to the party with which Figueroa became governor.

“Parliamentary policies and initiatives will thus be reinforced for the benefit of the population,” stated in the text, which was accompanied by a photograph showing the governor and the senator.

The president and the legislator met in the last few hours, in the south of the province, and agreed to develop an agenda “to defend the interests of the province in the new national scenario, and promote projects that benefit it,” it was indicated in a tone more political than informative.

At that meeting, “the imperative need for the governor to have a direct link with the senator, who explained that there is a natural alliance between the two,” was highlighted.

“We seek to return to a scheme that Neuquén always had, with senators representing the interests of the province,” it was noted in the text with attribution to Crexell.

“Neuquén is a fundamental province for the development of Argentina and seeks to ensure that this development has a federal perspective, for which it is essential that its voice be heard in Congress,” it was indicated on the official website.

“The coincidences in views on the province and the country also favored the agreement that will allow strong representation.”

The daughter of the former senator and former mayor of San Martín de los Andes Luz Sapag was elected national senator along with Guillermo Pereyra in an internal race that she maintained with the Blue list that Ana Pechen was running as a candidate. Subsequently, Crexell distanced herself from Pereyra and joined forces with Horacio Pechi Quiroga with whom she obtained the second term in the Senate after his death.
