The general assembly of the Jacques-Brel sociocultural Association (ASCJB), which was threatened with closure, was held on March 15. The members of the board of directors proceeded with the election of a new office. Patrick Labesse, mayor, reaffirmed the City’s deep commitment to this Carbonblannais institution.
Yohan Azais was elected president. He will be accompanied in his functions by Marine de la Sauvagerie, vice-president, and Béatrice Faugère, secretary, newcomers to the office. Eliane Lys, who for many years was president and treasurer of the ASCJB, says she is “ready to pass on her knowledge to new volunteers”. Marie-France Dorgeuil and Jean-Paul Iglésia, members of the former office, have agreed to continue the adventure within the association in the positions of assistant secretary and assistant treasurer respectively.
New momentum
Karine Dailly, Véronique Courbin, Sandrine Merlet and Dominique Maury volunteered to be active members of this new office.
A rejuvenated team, which wishes to breathe new life and dynamism into this institution, which has been in existence for forty-four years. The president declares that he has “a lot of work ahead, but already a good number of ideas to allow the inhabitants of Carbon-Blanc and surrounding communities to come and join the ranks and share friendly moments again, and more than ever”.
The ASCJB, which aims to encourage, promote, create and lead all socio-cultural and popular education actions, has no less than 17 sections divided into four poles: cultural, linguistic, well-being and self-discovery, playful. Among the association’s activities, we can cite: plastic arts, music, karaoke, computers, theater, English, Spanish, writing, sophrology, yoga, qi gong, figurine games and strategies, word and memory games, Scrabble .
