On Netflix, the series follow one another at a frantic pace. Thriller, sci-fi, romance, etc. The choices are extremely numerous and varied. Starting next Wednesday, September 30, the platform will offer a limited series by Dan Buettner titled Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones.

In these episodes, the director explores five “blue zones” around the world. Remember that these blue zones are a neologism created to identify the few regions of the world where the longevity of the inhabitants is well above average.

Remember that this term “blue zone” was originally created by the Italian academic Gianni Pes and the Belgian demographer Michel Poulain. Indeed, in 2000, they discovered in the province of Nuoro in Sardinia, a very high concentration of centenarians. Then they drew on a map, with blue ink, the areas where people live particularly long.

Five blue zones have been identified to date: Nuoro in Sardinia, the Greek island of Ikaria, Okinawa in Japan (probably the best known of all these blue zones), the Nicoya peninsula in Costa Rica and finally, Loma Linda in California which hosts a community of Seventh-day Adventists.
