A new supplier for a new optical zoom in the iPhone 15 in 2023?

It could be that Apple has signed a contract with a new supplier of optical stabilizers for the iPhone. The Elec reports that the manufacturer Jahwa Electronics has announced the construction of new factories where new optical stabilization systems for smartphone cameras will be produced next year.

The large amount of the investment (about 140 million euros) suggests that the supplier has found a new major customer in addition to Samsung. However, Apple has a habit of asking its suppliers to set up dedicated production lines and Apple representatives visited Jahwa Electronics factories in South Korea last year.

This subcontractor supplies Samsung with optical stabilizers for the Galaxy S22 in particular. These have a 3x telephoto lens and the Ultra model even has a second 10x periscope optical zoom. This rumor may be related to another according to which a periscopic lens could make its appearance in one or more iPhone 15s in 2023.
