A podium for Weger, nine years later

Benjamin Weger has finally regret the joys of a World Cup podium, after nine years of waiting.

The 31-year-old Valaisan finished 3rd in the Oberhof mass-start, won by the Norwegian Tarjei Bö ahead of the Austrian Felix Leitner.

Author of a 20/20 shooting, Benjamin Weger remained in the leading group throughout the 15 km of this event. He could not do anything in the final against Tarjei Bö and Felix Leitner, conceding 7”8 to the Norwegian, but resisted the return of the pursuers to keep his 3rd place.

This is the fifth time that Benjamin Weger has climbed to a World Cup podium. The Haut-Valaisan had celebrated the top four at the start of a promising career, before falling somewhat in line despite a good consistency in the top 10. He had notably finished 4th in the Kontiolahti sprint this winter.
