A priority in Egypt for renewable energy before “hydrogen”

The CEO of the Dutch company, Orascom Construction Industries, confirmed, Nassef SawirisIn an interview with Al-Arabiya, the priority in Egypt is renewable energy before entering into green hydrogen projects.

Sawiris said that our investments are currently focused on clean energy, especially blue and green ammonia.

“We are going to use renewable energy in the fertilizer industry, which was not affected by the Russian-Ukrainian war,” he added.

He revealed a wind energy project in Egypt with a capacity of 500 megawatts, and it will reach 3000 megawatts soon, and the project will be a pillar for generating electricity or feeding various industries.

He explained that production has started from the green hydrogen project in the Suez Canal, and it will be expanded during the next phase, noting that the first phase of the green hydrogen project has a capacity of 100 megawatts and an investment cost of $100 million.

He pointed out that the development of Egyptian talents and their professionalism in foreign clubs will have a return.

He confirmed that he would not increase his stake in Aston Villa.
