The Best Young Economist Award, created in 2000 by The world and the Circle of Economists, aims to promote the work of a French economist or an economist assigned to France under the age of 41. All economists from the academic world, in France or abroad, whose work falls within applied economics and who promote public debate could compete. Candidates had to send the Circle of Economists, in addition to a detailed CV, the five publications that seemed to them to be the most representative of their scientific production, as well as a summary note highlighting the interest and originality of their contributions. It was a question of distinguishing not only the excellence of the academic production of young French economists, but also their contribution to public debate and economic expertise. On this basis, the members of the Circle of Economists evaluated the applications and established a short list. It is the final jury, chaired by André Cartapanis and associating equally the representatives of the Circle of economists and the newspaper The world, who awarded the prize and praised the work of three other researchers. The award ceremony is held on May 22 at the premises of Citéco, the Cité de l’économie, in Paris.
